Silvia

The day after tomorrow my crazy life hopefully turns into a really enjoyable one. My schedule has been more than full. I hardly could pick up the needles. However, I spent some time in the store yesterday with Silvia. She is soft and cosy and a pleasure to knit with although he colour is not the colour I usually choose. Silvia is a yarn I bought a while ago and turned into a shawl, a man’s shal that’s perfect match to a black or grey coat. The pattern is k 2, p2, very plain. Mindless knitting, it really calmed me down.

Übermorgen wird für mich hoffentlich ein Leben voller Genuss beginnen. Die letzten Wochen waren leider für meinen Geschmack viel zu voll gestopft mit Extraprogramm, so dass ich kaum Zeit fand, das Strickzeugs hervor zu nehmen. Glücklicherweise durfte ich aber gestern im Laden ein paar friedliche Stunden mit Silvia verbringen. Silvia ist weich und kuschelig, obwohl ihre Farbe nicht meiner üblichen Wahl entspricht. Silvia ist eine Wolle, die ich vor einer Weile gekauft und nun in einen Männerschal verwandelt habe, der perfekt zu einem grauen oder schwarzen Mantel passt. 2 re, 2 li gestrickt, also sehr einfach und anspruchslos. Genau das Richtige, um flatterige Nerven und Gedankenwirrwarr zu beruhigen.

Grau-Blau – Grey-Blue

Es gibt Arbeitswochen, die doppelt anstrengend sind, obwohl sie sogar kürzer sind als normal. Ob das am Wetter liegt? Oder am Biorhythmus? Habe ich schlecht geschlafen, ohne es zu merken? Das falsche gegessen? Oder entgegen der Mondphase gelebt? Jedenfalls war vergangene Woche sehr anstrengend. Vielleicht hat meine Strickarbeit deshalb mehr auf dem Stubentisch gelegen, als in meinen Händen zu wachsen. Immerhin bin ich im dritten Abschnitt meines “color affection” Schals angelangt und wechsle nach jedem Rippchen die Farbe: Dunkelblau, Mittelblau, Grau, Dunkelblau, Mittelblau, Grau und so weiter. Irgendwann werden auch die letzten Maschen auf der Rundstricknadel in dieser Farbkombination “aufgefressen” worden sein. Die Reihen werden nämlich immer länger.

There are weeks that seem extremly tiring although they are shorter, for example the previous week, that had a second Sunday instead of Monday. Was it because of the weather (we often blame the weather, don’t we?)? Was it my circadian rhythm? Didn’t I sleep well without noticing? Did I eat the wrong stuff? Did I go against the phase of the moon? Perhaps that’s the reason why my knitting slept on the dining room table more than grew in my hands. But I am in the third section of the “color affection” shaw changing yarn and colour after each dubble row: dark blue, blue, grey, dark blue, blue, grey and so on. Someday the last stitches on the circular needle will be eaten up as the rows get longer and longer from the right side to the left.

What would I do? – Was würde ich nur tun?

Pogona ist fertig geworden und wärmt grad jetzt meine Schultern. Die Teile, die wie Blätter ausschauen, fallen über den Rücken und die Schultern. Die kleinen an der Spitze kräuseln sich leicht und halten den Schal, einmal übergeworfen perfekt, wo er sein soll.

I’ve finished my Pogona Nr. 1. I’m wearing it right now because it is a bit cool in the house. However, my husband who is at home today thinks we don’t make a fire because it is June. We will see ... Pogona is a perfect fit. It falls nicely over the back and over the shoulders. The smallest parts of the pogona, that look like leaves, curl slightly. Im happy with it.

Auch das Spitzendeckeli ist fertig geworden. Es hat etwa 8 Stunden Arbeit gegeben. Rechne ich einen Stundenlohn von 4 Franken plus Material, muss ich es im Laden für 40 Franken verkaufen können. Wir werden sehen. Im textilen Bereich sind die Löhne mies. Oder habt ihr gewusst, dass die Herstellungskosten für ein Paar Jeans etwa 6 Franken betragen, Transportkosten inklusive? Wer sahnt denn da die grossen Beträge ab? Bestimmt die Leute, die die Baumwolle anbauen, ernten, die Stoffe weben, Hosen draus nähen und Reisverschlüsse und Nieten anbringen. Mit einem Stundenlohn von 4 Franken, eher weniger, kann in der Schweiz “bigoscht” niemand leben.

Trotzdem, häkeln macht Spass (ich muss ja nicht davon leben). Deshalb habe ich auch gleich ein zweites Deckchen begonnen, diesmal mit einem ganz feinen Garn. Und dann beginnt ja heute auch der JFKknitalong bei Crafts from the Cwtch. Was würde ich nur tun ohne Handarbeit? Aber vorerst bestaunen wir alle fertigen Gegenstände. I’ve finished the doily. It took me about 8 hours to make it. Calculating a prize (as I want to sell it in the store), it would be 40 Swiss francs if I wanted 4 per hour and the material. In the textile departement salary are a joke. Have you known that the costs of production of a pair of jeans is about 6 Swiss francs – they are sold for 120 upwards – including transport? Who gets the big money? Not the people who grow the cotton, harvest it, weave the fabric, sew the jeans and fit in zippers and buttons, that’s for sure. I’ll stick with buying most of my clothes in second hand stores.

Nevertheless, crochet is fun. Therefore I started a second doily yesterday. This time I’m using a very thin yarn. And yes, today the JFKknitalong at Crafts from the Cwtch‘s starts. What would I do without my crafting?  But first we will look at all the finished objects at Tami’s amis, won’t we?

Missing Button — Knopf fehlt noch

I’m sure this counts as an FO even though I haven’t found a matching button yet. I always struggle with the buttons. Maybe I’ll go with the one on the right. However, all the ends are weaved in. I double checked. For now the kimono is going into the craft store. If nobody buys it I can always wear it myself. Each garment I make for the store has my size and a colour I like.

I’m happy I finished the kimono so I can happily knit along my shawls. In fact I’m in some kind of Pogona production as I’ve casted on one in Lanagrossa Lace Silky, which felt so lovely and the pink looked so great in the yarn store. I learnt that there is a thin silk thread in the middle and a cotton layer around it. The yarn looks like crocheted. But I am very disappointed (Does this happen to you too?). Firstly its super expensive and secondely is broken all the time. Therefore my Pogona is going to be a mini shawl as I’m knitting only one ball which is 250 meters. Actually I need 350. Anyway, I’ve a second Pogona on the needles (the pattern is great!) in a light pink from my stash in the attic, 100 percent wool, which is much nicer to knit. I’m done with experiments for a while and stick to wellknown material, like Lanagrossa Cool Wool for the color affection knitalong at Crafts from the Cwtch. There you can get all the useful information. 

I’m spending the day in the store. Lots of knitting time, I guess/hope.

Judihui, mein Kimonojäckchen ist fertig geworden. Auch wenn mir noch der passende Knopf fehlt, zählt es bestimmt als fertiges Objekt. Jedoch sind alle Schwänzchen vernäht, was ich zweimal überprüft habe, denn oft bleib noch eines hängen, zum Beispiel gut versteckt im Ärmel. Das Kimonojäckchen ist erst mal für den Laden gedacht. Falls ich es nicht verkaufe, kann ich es immer noch selber tragen. Deshalb wähle ich immer meine Grösse und auch eine Farbe, die mir gefällt.

Ich bin froh, dass die Jacke fertig ist. So kann ich mich auf meine Schals stürzen. Im Moment stricke ich an zwei verschiedenen Pogonas. Ich habe Material gekauft, von dem ich enttäuscht bin. Vermutlich habe ich mich von der Farbe (ein leuchtendes Pink) und der Machart von Lanagrossa Lace Silky blenden lassen. In der Mitte läuft ein dünner Seidenfaden, der wie umhäkelt aussieht. Dieses Material ist Baumwolle. Lace Silky fühlt sich sehr weich an, hat aber immer wieder eingerissene Stellen. So macht Stricken nicht wirklich Spass. Dazu kommt, dass die Wolle sehr teuer ist, was ich aber erst realisiert habe, als ich schon wieder im Auto sass. Nun werde ich also nur einen Knäuel verstricken und den zweiten retour geben. Am Ende gibts halt bloss einen Minipogona. Aber jetzt mache ich erst mal Pause damit. Weil der Pogona ansich aber sehr vielverspechend ist, habe ich noch einen zweiten angeschlagen. Diesmal helles Rosa, 100 Prozent Wolle, ein Material vom Estrichvorrat. Mensch, das hätte ich von Anfang an nehmen können …

Nun, meine Experimentierfreude ist ein bisschen gedämpft und ich bleibe bei Material, das ich gut kenne. Zum Beispiel Lanagrossa Cool Wool für den Color Affection Schal, wieder ein gemeinsames Projekt mit Strickfreudigen rund um den Globus. Crafts from the Cwtch organisiert den Plausch.
