Neverending Smile – Einziges Lächeln

This is so cooooooool, isn’t it? I made my own crochet hook this afternoon. That’s the story: I went for a coffee to my neighbours Vreni and Franz this morning. As always they offered me a really big, hot mug and a nice chat. When Franz had left us, Vreni, who is a sheep keeper, a spinner, and a handcrafter in general, showed me her newest purchase, a 10 mm hook because she wants to make a bathroom rug with her many sheets. The moment I saw the hook I knew that today was the day to make my own hook from hazel wood. So off I went for a walk hunting for the perfect branches in the nearby forest.

All you need is a straight piece of hazel wood, a sharp Swiss army knife, sandpaper, spacial sense and … a little talent. You can do it, too!

This is the prototype I have already tried out.  It actually works perfectly. Doesn’t it look beautiful? I feel like a neverending smile. 🙂

Als ich die neue, 10 mm dicke Häkelnadel meiner Nachbarin Vreni sah, wusste ich, dass heute der Tag war, an dem ich mein eigenes Häklein machen würde. Warum nicht auch einen Badezimmerteppich aus Leintuchstreifen häkeln wie Vreni? Nach der grossen Tasse Kaffee, die mir Franz und Vreni jeweils anbiedeten, wenn ich sie ab und zu im Verlauf des Morgens besuche, ging ich also auf eine Spazierrunde, um das passende Material zu suchen. Alles, was es braucht, sind gerade gewachsene Haselstecken, ein Schweizer Sackmesser, Schleifpapier, räumliches Vorstellungsvermögen und …. ein bisschen Talent. Ihr könnt das auch!

Mein Prototyp, schon ausprobiert und für gut befunden, ist so coooooool. Ich bin ein einziges Lächeln. 🙂
