You don’t always find what you look for. But you sometimes find what you don’t lock for.
We payed a visit to the museum of water today, which reminded me of a catheadral as long as there weren‘ any other visitors.
This iron wheel was used to open the reservoir. The Romans built the whole system, which was used until a long time after the Roman impire.
Aquarducts bring the water to the reservoir on top of the wall on the right, from where it flows down the stones and drips into the huge basin. As it is bright inside the hall, plants grow wherever they find a crack.
We have found the summer in Lisbon and are grateful for a stop a long the way through the streets, places and parcs. Water is very much needed.
There is a connection between this picture and the first one of this post: Have you spotted the elements of water on the periodic system.
