The End of White – Das Ende von Weiss

I finished the snowblanket. Ta dah! Let’s hope this is the last day of winter. 🙂 Today we are off to Colmar in France for three days. Hope to see you well when I am back.

Aus dem Vorrat – Stash-buster Challenge #2

Winter vacation is almost over, and I am very pleased that I will reach my goal: the festive sweater is almost done, which means I will have finished the body, back and front, tonight. I hope to have a finished object next Friday. Yes! However, knitting it is still demanding. I had to frog a few rows yesterday and almost had a fit! Artificial light (turned on always these days) does not help. That’s the reason why I need a break now and then to relax my brain.

Firstly, I went thrift shopping on Saturday morning and found this lovely Strickliesel (in German) in the original package, yarn untouched. It’s called Knitting Nancy in English. Doing endless cords is pure relaxation. In fact, it’s meditation.

Secondly, there is my stush-buster project Nr. 2. I’m making a blanket crocheting 10 dc, chain 1, 10 sc, chain 1. In the following row it’s 10 sc into the dc, chain 1 and 10 dc into the sc, chain on. Very simple. I was a bit worried that the blanket would look like my first stash-buster project as I am using sock yarn from the same box. But it looks very different, doesn’t it?

Die Winterferien sind fast vorbei, und ich bin sehr erfreut, dass ich mein Ziel, den Ajourpullover fast fertig zu haben, erreiche. Bis heute Abend sind Vorder- und Rückenteil abgekettet. Jupidu! Trotzdem bleibt das Stricken relativ anstrengend. Gestern musste ich zudem auch zwei Reihen auftrennen und hatte fast einen Anfall (mein Mann würde wohl behaupten, ich hatte einen). Das künstliche Licht hilft natürlich überhaupt nicht. Ab und zu brauche ich also dringend eine Pause.

Zum Beispiel ging ich am Samstagmorgen ins Brocki und fand dieses Strickstrickpüppchen (Strickliesel auf Deutsch, Knitting Nancy auf Englisch). Endlosschnüre zu machen ist Entspannung pur, ist Meditation.

Dann habe ich ein zweites Wollfresserprojekt angefangen. Ich häkle eine Decke im Muster 10 feste Maschen, 1 Luftmasche, 10 Stäbchen, 1 Luftmasche. In der folgenden Reihe kommen dann Stäbchen über die festen Maschen, 1 Luftmasche, feste Maschen über die Stäbchen, 1 Luftmasche zu liegen. Der Effekt ist toll, finde ich. Zuerst war ich ein bisschen besorgt, dass die Deck so ausschaut wie mein 1. Projekt, der Schal, den ich mit Sockenwolle aus der gleichen Kiste gestrickt habe. Aber die Decke kommt total anders heraus. Vielleicht leiste die altrosa farbene Wolle, die ich dazu nehme, einen Beitrag.

Unfortunatelly, I can’t crochet the border as I’m waiting impatiently for the last one or two squares to arrive. I can’t wait to finish this blissful blanket from the facebook square swap 2012. Meanwhile I’m adding a few grannies to complete it. Isn’t it great, how all the squares blend in?
