Schulterklopfen – A Pat on the Back

Wenn dann noch die zur Hälfte fertige Häkeldecke geschafft ist, darf ich endlich wieder etwas Neues anschlagen. Im Moment habe ich noch keine Ahnung was. Oder doch einen so schönen dicken Schal, wie ihn Sabine gehäkelt hat?

When the semi-complete blanket is finished, I’m going to start something new. I have no idea right now. Maybe a beautiful, thick shawl Sabine showed a while ago?

Aber vorerst geniesse ich einfach dieses Gefühl von wunderbar. Ich bin mehr als zufrieden. Ja, ich klopfe mir selber auf die Schultern. Soviele angefangene Arbeiten sind fertig geworden. Die Jacke hat einen neuen Reissverschluss. Ein neuer Träger freut sich über Zimtstern. 🙂

But for now I’m enjoying the lovely feeling of wonderful. I’m more than pleased. In fact, I’m giving myself a pat on my back. I sewed a zipper into a Zimstern jacket, that now has a new and happy owner. 

An einem ärmellosen Longpulli Marke Babajeza, der zwei Jahre lang fast fertig an der Zimmertür hing, habe ich endlich den letzten Faden verstätet und einen Knopf angenäht. Ich habe das Teil getragen und sogar Komplimente dafür bekommen, obwohl ich dachte, es sei nur zu Hause tragbar. 🙂

Finally, there is a button on my long sweater that has hung on the door for the same period of time and has not complained once. I had thought I could wear it only at home but then I was brave and got compliments. 🙂

Wie der fertige Vorhang mit den Häkeldeckchen aussieht, habe ich ja schon gezeigt.

I showed of the curtain with inserted doilies last week. 

Ein paar Socken aus Lana Grossa meilenweit, ich nenne sie „Koblenz“, sind auch fertig und schon im Gebrauch. Blaue Socken sind in meinem Kleiderschrank nicht länger in der Überzahl. 🙂

These socks are called „Koblenz“ as I knitted most of them while driving there. They are comfy and a nice addition to my sock collection, which is no longer mostly blue. 🙂

Dann habe ich das Granny-Dings auch fertig gehäkelt. Es ist definitiv nur für zu Hause geeignet. Hahaha! Oder seid ihr an einer 70er-Jahre-Party eingeladen? 🙂

This jacket turned out very seventies style. It’s most definitely for wearing in the secure harbor of home only. Hahaha!

This red sweater is finished and waiting for customers in the store. There are also a green and a blue one. 

 

Die letzten Vorstiche sind an der quadratischen Patchworkdecke genäht, die ich Weihnachten 2012 angefangen und fast fertig genäht habe. 🙂

This simple and quite quick patchwork blanket is completed. I started it Christmas 2012 and was almost done back then. However, it took a while . 

Und zu guter Letzt: Die Handwerker waren da, haben die Rauchkammer abgebrochen, das Loch zugemauert. Und ich habe das Haus geputzt. Das Schulterklopfen ist verdient, oder?

Last but not least: The masons were here and did some work in the attic. And I have cleaned the house afterwards. I really deserve a pat on my back, don’t I? 🙂

 

The End of White – Das Ende von Weiss

I finished the snowblanket. Ta dah! Let’s hope this is the last day of winter. 🙂 Today we are off to Colmar in France for three days. Hope to see you well when I am back. 

Schneedecke ist fertig. Ta dah! Hoffen wir, dass heute der letzte Wintertag ist. 🙂 Heute fahren wir nach Colmar für drei Tage. Ich hoffe, euch alle wohlbehalten zu sehen, wenn ich zurück bin.

Holzperlen, Faden und kleine Ringe – Beads, Thread and Little Rings

I haven’t finished anything actually. But I made a little something which may help with my current projects, the toe-up socks and the festive sweater.

I while ago I got three stitchmarkers in a surprise parcel. I haven’t even known until then that stitchmarkers existed. When I first tried them out I got all confused and decided (place a sm, remove the sm, slip the sm, take a second sm ….) that I would never use them but stick with the old method of sewing in an thread to mark the beginning of a round for example.

However, I’ve had the stitchmarkers around and found moments when I placed them nontheless. Now I am totally used to them and can’t live without. In fact, I need them all the time and haven’t got enough.

There is always the possibility to take these as a substitute, or make them at least a bit nicer. As I am not much into beading and jewelry, I decided to make my stitchmarkers easy. Using little rings (from Coop Heim und Hobby, strong sewing thread and a few wooden beads I’ve had in stash for ages. Now I am ready to knit and crochet on.

Vor einer Weile bekam ich Maschenmarkierer geschenkt, dabei hatte ich bis anhin nicht einmal gewusst, dass es so etwas gibt. Als ich sie das erste Mal an einem Dreiecktuch mit Löchlimuster ausprobieren wollte, verwirrten mich die Anleitungen dermassen, dass ich beschloss bei der alten Methode (Fädeli innähen, zum Beispiel beim Ganganfang) zu bleiben.

Nun, die Maschenmarkierer lagen immer beim Strickzeug und so nach und nach fand ich Gelegenheiten, wie einzusetzen. Ich habe mich nun so an sie gewöhnt, dass ich nicht mehr ohne sie sein kann. Ja, ich habe sogar zu wenig von diesen nützlichen Hilfmitteln.

Natürlich kann man auch Sicherheitsnadeln verwenden. Diese lassen sich ohne grosse Mühe sogar ein bisschen netter gestalten. Heute morgen nun suchte ich das Material für meine eigenen Maschenmarkierer zusammen: kleine Ringe (im Coop Heim und Hobby gekauft), Holzperlen aus dem Vorrat, starker Handfaden. Nun bin ich ausgerüstet!

I Love Them Big – Gerne gross

I love my hats big, but not too big of course. Therefore, the first felted hat is used as a basket holding a small project or yarn. The second hat was perfect my husband asured me. …. I made a third hat adding a bit of colour. And after the felting it is just perfect in my opinion. Maybe you disagree … 😉

Ich trage meine Hüte gerne gross, aber nicht zu gross selbstverständlich. Deshalb verwende ich Hut Nr. 1 nach dreimaligem Sieden als Körbchen für kleinen Krimskrams, Wolle, eine angefangene kleine Arbeit. Der zweite Hut ist perfekt, versicherte mir mein Mann. …. Ich häkelte noch einen dritten, diesmal mit ein bisschen Farbe zur Abwechslung. Und nach dem Waschen ist er meiner Meinung nach perfekt. Vielleicht seid ihr anderer Meinung … 😉

Das ist kein Stoffrestenhaufe, nein, meine frisch gewartete Overlock Maschine schnurrt wieder wie ein Kätzchen beim Mittagschläfchen. Es war auch höchste Zeit, den bestellten Babajeza Pullover endlich zur Auslieferung parat zu machen.

This is not a pile of fabric, no it’s afinished object too. My serger is back after a total check and purls like a cat. It was already hight time to make this Babajeza sweater ready to deliver.

These are my finished objects to show at Tami’s party. I’ll go and check what others came up with soon.

Unordnung hoch zwei – What a Mess!

Endlich ist mal wieder etwas fertig geworden, und damit ist wieder Ordnung eingekehrt im Hause Stricker, der Stubentisch wieder abgeräumt, die Wollknäuel sauber aufgerollt und weggepackt. Es sah in letzter Zeit ein bisschen zu wild aus für meinen Geschmack. Nachdem sich nun aber die Handwerker, die uns einen wunderbaren neuen Estrichboden eingebaut hatten, letzten Samstag verabschiedet haben, kann ich nicht nur meine Wollkisten wieder aus dem Weg räumen, sondern auch einen Hausputz machen, der längst überfällig ist. Nur Fensterputzen schiebe ich auf. Schliesslich möchte ich keinen Äckegschtabi oder gar Rheuma kriegen. Es ist gar nicht gesund, die kalte Luft ins ein Zimmer zu lassen, wenn man einen nassen Lappen in den Händen hat.

Fertig geworden sind nun also meine (zu) farbigen Socken für Kuschelstunden vor dem Fernseher. Angefangen hat alles mit doppelter Wolle und drei Grannysquares (später habe ich dann noch ein viertes gehäkelt). Zwei davon ergeben die Manschette, den Umschlag für der Socke. Ein paar Fotos zeigen, wie ich vorgegangen bin. Wer also weiss, wie man Socken strickt, kommt ohne Erklärung aus. Aufpassen muss man nur, dass die Maschenzahl, die man an der Häkelkante aufnimmt, stimmt, damit eine passende Socke entsteht (ich habe nach zweimalI irren 34 aufgenommen). Nach dem Maschenaufnehmen muss man die Socke auf die linke Seite wenden, damit am Schluss die schöne Seite der Grannies aussen ist. Zum Dessert habe ich noch einen Muschelrand gehäkelt.

Finally, I’ve got a finished object, and with it the mess in our house’s gone. The yarn is wound in neat balls, the living room table nice and clean for the next tea party. After the carpenters had said good bye last Saturday, I can put the yarn boxes back into the attic and clean the house. I don’t mean the windows because it is unhealthy ho let the cold air come in while holding a wet sponge. We don’t want to get sick, do we?

My way too colourful granny-socks are finished. I can see me wearing them while watching tv. I started with chunky yarn and a 7mm hook and made vour granny sqaures, joined them, picked up stitches to knit the sock (also 7mm needles). You have to be careful to pick up as many stitches that you need for a decent sock. I had 34 stitches. You may knit any sock, but turn it inside out after picking up the stitches so the right side is visible in the end. You may add a border to make the sock nicer.

You Will Always Find Me – Du wirst mich immer finden

Es gibt mehrere Namen für meinen Pullover: Nicht-im-Nebel-verloren-gehen, Du-wirst-mich-immer-finden und Ich-bin-ein-Leuchtturm-im-Universum. Anfangs befürchtete ich, dass ich mich nicht getrauen würde, als Leuchtkäfer in die Schule zu gehen. Aber dann hab ichs doch gemacht. Der Pulli ist bereits frisch gewaschen und parat für den nächsten Nebelvertreibeinsatz, Novembernebelvertreibeinsatz  – ich liebe Deutsch. Da darf man hundert Wörter aneinanderreihen, um ein neues zu bilden -, Novemberderpessionvertreibeinsatz.

I’ve found several names for my sweater: Never-get-lost-in-the-fog, you-will-always-find-me and I’m-a-beacon-in-the-universe. I was a bit affrait of going to school as a lightning-bug. But then I did it and was surprised how well the people responded to the sweater. I think I haven’t worn a piece of clohting that got that much of attention. Now the sweater is washed and ready for its next mission as making-people-smile-sweater.

The sweater is knitted top-down with thick wool on 7mm needles, and it took me a few days to complete it. 🙂

Der Pulli ist von oben nach unten gestickt, was lästiges Zusammennähen am Schluss überflüssig macht. Mit dicker Wolle auf 7 mm Nadeln gestrick, hat der Plausch ein paar Tage gedauert. 🙂

Last Roses – Letzter Gartengruss

Sometimes I should close my eyes. There are so many inspiring people, things and experiences around me that I am overwhelmed. Of course I am grateful to be able to create. This is what helps me relax and keeps me going. Now look what I tried out yesterday! I am so pleased with the result that I want to share it with you.

Manchmal wäre es wohl nicht schlecht, mit geschlossenen Augen durch den Tag zu gehen, denn es gibt so viele inspirierende Sachen, Menschen und Erlebnisse, dass es mir fast zu viel wird. Natürlich bin ich dankbar um die vielen Ideen, denn creativ tätig zu sein, ist entspannend und gibt zugleich Energie, weiterzumachen. Gestern habe ich wieder etwas Neues ausprobiert, und ich bin so glücklich mit dem Resultat, dass ich es euch zeigen möchte. Ausgangsmaterial war ein Blumenstrausseinwickelpapier, das danach schrie, zur Blume zu werden und nicht im Güsel zu landen. Ja, Dinge reden mit mir. 😉

You don’t need a lot of material: news paper or any paper you find suitable, some thin branches (mine are elderberry), glue, wallpaper paste, wire. All things can be used. This is an upcyling project, which I love the most because I don’t have to go shopping first. Saves money too.

Man braucht nicht viel: Papier (Seidenpapier aus der Schuhschachtel, vom Blumenstrauss, Brotzeinwickelpapier), farbig oder natur, das sich gut zerknüllen und wieder glattstreichen lässt, ein paar dünne Äste (ich habe Holunder genommen), Weissleim, Fischkleister, ein bisschen Draht. Ihr merkt es schon, das ist mal wieder ein upcyling Projekt, was mir naütlrich sehr gefällt, weil ich nicht erst einkaufen muss. Spart auch Geld!

Crinkle the paper, flatten it again and make double layer paper stripes (about 8 cm wide). Papier zerknüllen, wieder glatt streichen und in doppelte Papierstreifen schneiden (ca. 8 cm breit).

Shape a pettal with the paperstripe. Blüte formen.

Open it up again and glue it on the stemside. Press it tightly. Wieder öffnen und an der Unterkante, wo der Stiel ist, leimen. Gut festdrücken.

Use wallpaper paste for the leaves and to fix the petal on the stem, rip newspaper into small stripes and snippets. Um die Blätter zu machen und die Blüte am Stiel zu befestigen, braucht es Fischkleister, Papierschnippsel und -schmale streifen.

Die Blattform mit Draht formen und Papierschnippsel darumherum kleistern. Shape the leave with wire and model it with the snippest and the paste.

Here you can see the petal and leave fixed on the stem. Let the flower dry. So sehen Blüte und Blatt am Stiel aus. Trocknen lassen und verschenken.

My Moment – Mein Moment

I had my moment yesterday morning when I finally finished Flurina’s sweater. You can see it here. I imagine her wearing the brown/taupe sweater together with a striped long sleeved t-shirt in various colours: clear blue, lime, yellow, pink, white, purple. However, I have to ask her mother if the girl has such a t-shirt at all. Anyway, I couldn’t wait until today (fo-Friday) to show it off. What to show instead? Of course, my doily lamp shade. After I had found the suitable doily, the lamp got its underskirt (I’m referring to the story here) in no time. I cut a little whole into the middle and pulled it over the boring glass shade, which is quite old and came with the house. 🙂

Do you think there is too much crochet/lace in my kitchen?
