I’ve finished my 50 Shades of Green Quilt yesterday. It was a very quick one. The rectangles are quite big, the filling is a flannel sheet, the back two pieces of a dark blue curtain my sister gave me years ago. There is not much quilting needed to keep the layers together. Two stiches and three knots are enough.
Mein kleiner Quilt mit dem grossen Namen ist fertig. Es ging ziemlich schnell, weil die Rechtecke doch recht gross sind. Da die Füllung aus einem Flanellleintuch besteht, ist es nicht nötig, den Quilt eng zu quilten. Ich habe mit Stickgarn genäht und die Fadenenden dreimal verknotet. Das reicht schon.
I really love the complementary contrast: blue and orange. That’s the reason I chose the fabric for the border, which also corresponds with the orange flowers of some rectangles.
Ich bin ein Fan von Komplementärkontrasten, zum Beispiel dunkelblau – orange. Deshalb die Farbwahl für den Rand, der auch mit den orangen Blumen korrespondiert.
I had to appliqué a heart to hide a hole in the fabric. However, it matches the border and adds a personal note to the quilt. It’s patchwork just the way I love it. 🙂 My quilts always turn out quite colourful. I’ve never been a pastel colour type.
Weil ich erst am Schluss gemerkt habe, dass ein Stoff ein Loch hat, musste ich noch ein Herz aufapplizieren, das auch zum Rand passt. Patchwork eben. Meine Decken werden immer sehr farbig und kräftig. Keine Chance, mal Pastelfarben zu vernähen. Ich schaffe das einfach nicht.
Zum Schluss noch ein Selfie aus den Neujahrsferien in Bergamo. Du warst noch nie da? Dann ist es höchste Zeit. Die wunderschöne Altstadt ist umgeben von Mauern, die im Abendlicht ganz orange werden. Passt doch zum Rand des Quilts.
