Ready to go? – Bereit für das Fest?

Busy week, indeed! I am a bit exhausted and long for fall break. We are there soon. Koblenz, we are coming. 🙂

But first there is a wedding to attend. I am pleased that the big dress-issues could be solved. I’ve spent some lovely time shopping in thrifts stores hunting for supplies and sewing with my beloved BERNINA. 

Die Woche vergeht wie im Flug, ich kriege kaum Atem. Schön, dass bald Herbstferien sind und wir ein paar lockere Tage in Koblenz am Rhein verbringen dürfen. 🙂

Zuerst findet allerdings noch ein Hochzeitsfest statt. Ich bin froh, dass die Kleiderfrage geklärt ist. Ich verbrachte ein paar nette Stunden im Brockenhaus auf der Suche nach dem passenden Material und später an meiner geliebten Nähmschine. So langsam sehe ich dem Fest gelassener entgegen.

 

Look, where I’ve started the adventure: These pictures were all I had a week ago because I realised that firstly I was too late to order anything from the catalogue and secondly, that the all the clothes together would cost a fortune. I’m not willing to do this. It’s just clothes. I’d rather be creative. 

Mit ein paar Bildern fing alles an: Ich musste erfahren, dass ich viel zu spät war, um noch etwas aus dem Katalog zu bestellen, und dass sowieso alles zusammen ein Vermögen kosten würde. So viel Geld nur für Kleider für einen Abend will ich nicht ausgeben. Lieber will ich mit Phantasie etwas zusammenbasteln.

I sewed a tunic from fabric I already had and pimped the hem around the neck with a small green border and lace I also had.

Ich nähte also eine Tunika aus geblümtem Stoff und versäuberte den Saum am Hals mit einem grünen, selber geschnittenen Schrägband und einer schmalen Spitze, die ich schon hatte.

How is the weather going to be like on Saturday? Although the forcast is promising a sunny day, it might be cool. A cardigan is much needed. But the sleeves should be shorter than the ones of the tunic. I’m showing all the differnt layers I’m wearing. It’s called onion look. 

Wie wird das Wetter am Samstag? Obwohl die Vorhersage vielversprechend tönt, könnte es doch kühl sein. Ich muss also unbedingt ein Jäckchen haben, das ich bei Bedarf an- oder ausziehen kann. Die Ärmel mit Rollsäumli sind aber kürzer als die der Tunika. Schliesslich möchte ich alle Schichten zeigen. Zwiebellook.

On the hem of the skirt some more lace. I like the olive green as a contrasting colour. I’m not totally sure about the green hem though. I might cut it off and wear green leg warmers instead. We will see. 

Der Rocksaum hat auch ein bisschen Spitze abgekriegt. Mir gefällt das Olivgrün als frecher Kontrast zu violett, lila und türkisgrün. Eventuell schneide ich den grünen Rand wieder ab und trage statt dessen grüne Stulpen zu den rosa Leggins.

I won’t be wearing my neighbours boots though. They are too tight unfortunatelly. So I spent some money on a pair of leather boots I know I will love for the rest of my life. 🙂 

Übrigens werde ich nicht die Stiefel meiner Nachbarin tragen, denn sie sind trotz Bemühung zu klein geblieben. Deshalb habe ich ein bisschen Geld ausgegeben und mir ein Paar Stiefeletten gekauft, an denen ich ein Leben lang Freude haben werde.
