Wozu gibt es Ferien? – Time and Again

Gestern hatte ich mein Grosskind zu Besuch, denn Beziehungspflege ist wichtiger als Fenster putzen. Ich bin bombensicher, dass mich Petrus dereinst beim Eintreten in den Himmel nicht fragt, ob ich immer brav den Frühlingsputz erledigt habe. Das Verhältnis zu meinen Enkeln interessiert ihn viel mehr, weshalb ich meine Babysitterdienste angeboten habe. Wozu sind Ferien da?

Heute liegen nochmals ein paar kreative Momente für mich drin, zum Beispiel Häschen stricken (x), Mugrug nähen (x), Pyjamahose overlocken, die pinken Mustersocken stricken. Dann möchte ich eine Fahnenstange setzen und vielleicht noch zwei Fenster putzen. Wozu sind Ferien da? Noch gibt es einen Sams-, Sonn- und Montag.

Aber jetzt bin ich erst Mal parat für den zweiten Kaffee.

Yesterday my granddaughter was here.  She went up- and downstairs and discovered the most interesting things. I thought it was time to go for a walk and introduce her to my neighbour. I’m telling you I was tired when she was picked up by her dad.

Today I got up early to have enough time for some creativity. Time and again I have new ideas, for example knitting a bunny (check), sewing a mugrug. I got this lovely coffee tray for my birthday in March and haven’t used it yet. (check). I’ve started a pair of pink socks already. I want to cement a flag pole into the ground and maybe clean a window or two. Three more days of vacation. Hurray! Hopefully there will be time to sew a pair of pyjamas.

Now I think a second cup of coffee would be nice.  

 

 

Sonne, wo bist du? – Hello Sunshine – Finishing an UFO

Nur noch zusammennähen, was ungefähr eine Stunde oder zwei Arbeit macht. Ein Klacks, würde man meinen. Nur wollte ich heute Nachmittag noch eine halbe Stunde an die frische Luft, von wegen Vitamin D und so. Leider ist die Sonne schon wieder weg …

I miss the sun when I am in school all day long. Today, I thought, it must be possible to catch some sunshine. But now, there are already clouds and the sun has disappeared. Gladly, I know how to have a good time anyway. I could finish my cardigan, that only needs  its seams sewn. It shouldn’t take too long … 

Then I find myself thinking that a bit of pink would add some colour to my momentarily boring life. I might crochet for a while … 

Da fällt mir meine fröhliche Häkelarbeit in die Hände. Das Pink würde mein momentan langweiliges Leben ein bisschen erhellen.

Either way, I will finish an UFO today!

So oder so, ich werde heute eine Unvollendete zu Ende führen.

Finished just in Time – Gerade rechtzeitig fertig

I’ve sewn in all ends. Alle Fäden sind vernäht.

Rollränder an den Ärmeln. I like the edges of the sleeves. 

Na ja, offenbar war das Wochenende doch nicht soooo schlecht. Gerade rechtzeitig zum Anfang des zweiten Semesters fertig geworden. Somit ist die Kleiderfrage geklärt.

Obviously, the weekend hasn’t been all bad. I’ve finished the sweater just in time. Tomorrow is the beginning of the second semester. I haven’t any doubts what to wear tomorrow.

Tadah! Another FO – Warme Socken für kalte Wintertage

Zu behaupten, die fertigen Stücke sprängen mir von der Nadel, ist ein bisschen übertrieben. Trotzdem freue ich mich über meine neuen Fusswärmer. Die Socken für den Winter stricke ich mit extra langen Röhrchen, damit auch ja kein kaltes Lüftchen an meine Knöchel zieht.

Again, another finished object. It may seem I’ve been quite busy lately. However, I won’t get too excited about it. I’ve neglected the housework this afternoon. Anyway, I knit my winter socks extra long in order to keep the cold away. 

Die Spitze verstärke ich ab dem 3er Abnehmen mit Beigarn. Da es oft nicht mitgeliefert wird, ist meine Restenbox Gold wert.

I always strengthen the top of my socks. They will last so much longer. In fact, I wear socks I knitted more than 15 years ago. 

Weil ich jetzt nicht draussen sein muss, sondern gemütlich drinnen einen heissen Tee trinke, ist das Novemberhudelwetter ganz erträglich.

Because I’m able to have a cup of tea in my cosy kitchen, these awful late November days aren’t as bad. It’s getting dark already at half past four …. Time to switch the light on.

Bei Gelegenheit vielleicht grau – As Occasion Demands

Meine neuen Socken sind ein bisschen sehr grau geworden. Zum Glück scheint die Sonne, so sehen sie ein bisschen freundlicher aus. Immerhin sind sie endlich doch fertig gestrickt. Es lag bestimmt an der Farbe, dass ich oft keine Lust zum Weiterstricken hatte. Richtige Herbst-Winter-Socken sind es geworden, die ich dann tragen kann, wenn farbige zu auffällig sind. Hihi!

I don’t know what I thought when I decided to knit dark grey socks. Probabely the name of the yarn that lured me into it. Halifax. It’s still my favourite city on the planet. Although I have to admit that I haven’t seen that many at all.

Anyway, the socks are finally finished. I will wear them when colourful socks are too flashy as occasion demands now and then. 

Der Sonntag scheint der Tag zu werden, an dem ich Angefangenes beende …

 

FO-Friday-Fun: I’ve Mailed Them – Couverts sind unterwegs

Leider, leider darf ich nicht zeigen, was in den Couverts ist. Es würde die Überraschung schmälern und den Quilt um die Hälfte seines Namens bringen, was natürlich nicht geht. Auf keinen Fall!

Nichtsdestotrotz: Meine 12 Quadrate für den Schwarz-Weiss-Überraschungsquilt sind fertig. Es fällt mir ein Stein vom Herzen, denn nach langer Zeit wurde mal wieder etwas zu Ende gebracht. Fürwahr ein gutes Gefühl.

I’ve finished the twelve blocks for the ladies participating in this patchwork swap. I’m very happy about it as it has been ages since I finished a project. Furthermore, the packages are on their ways already. 

Unfortunately, I cannot show you the blocks and how I’ve made them because they are supposed to be a surprise. 

Ein bisschen was, sozusagen verzerrt und fern der Realität, zeige ich trotzdem. Glaubt mir, so schwarz-weiss war eine grosse Herausforderung. Es hat mich bei jedem Block in den Fingern gejuckt, ein bisschen Farbe anzubringen. Ich hab’s geschafft, der Versuchung zu widerstehen. Aber etwas anderes ist mir nicht gelungen. Genauer gesagt, ich habe gar nicht erst probiert, zwölf tupfgenaugleiche Blöcke zu nähen. Sie sind zwar gleich gemacht, aber trotzdem verschieden.

 

Allen gleich ist, dass sie ein bisschen grösser sind, als bestellt. Ich war mir nämlich nicht sicher, ob die 28 cm vor oder nach dem Zusammennähen gemessen werden. Da wollte ich auf Nummer sicher gehen.

Und so ist bei allen Teilen noch ein bisschen Spielraum beim Auflegen einer Schablone 28/28.  Meine ist farbig. So wohltuend. 🙂

Of course, I took some photographs before I put the blocks into the envelopes. So here you get a surreal picture of what I did with black and white. I almost couldn’t do it. Sticking to black and white only has been very hard for me. At least I’ve used the same technique, an yet the blocks look differently. 

They need some cutting to get the perfect size. But I figured it would be better to make them a bit too big than too small. Anyway, I’ve made a gauge. 28 x 28 centimeters. Yellow, to add a bit of colours. 🙂

Häkeln, ohne gross zu überlegen. Reste aufbrauchen. Verschiedene Modelle ausprobieren. Grösse variieren.

Feierabend wohl verdient, oder?

Relaxed crocheting. Using up leftovers. Trying out different shapes and different sizes. 

I’m ready for the weekend! 

Mit diesem guten Stück hat alles angefangen. Es hat schon einen Besitzer gefunden. Die Anleitung dazu gibts hier.

This is the first one, that I’ve gifted. 

Pattern: I used a 6 mm hook and suitable yarn that doesn’t scratch. 

Start with a ring.

First round: 11 half double crochets 

Second round: 22 half double crochets (2 stitches into each half double crochets of the previous round) = 22

Third round: double every second half double crochet. = 33

Forth round: no increases

Fifth round: double every third half double crochet of the previous round = 44 

Sixth round: no increases

Seventh round: double every forth half double crochet of the previous round = 55 

Eighth round and the following: no increases until the hat is long enough.

Followed by three rounds of single crochets: Make five decreases evenly placed in the first or second round. 

Add increases in the eights round if the hat is too tight.
