I don’t know for how long this starshaped hat had been laying around as a wip collecting dust. Must be years as it is a project from primary school I once taught in Fimmelsberg. However, I did it. It’s a finished object now. How can you sew a hat like this? Draw half of a head band on a piece of paper (fold the fabric to cut the headband). You may use a headband you already have. Than draw a circle with the same circumference as the headband and a bigger circle around it. Draw the points of the star. Cut the fabric: two pieces for the headband, one star and one star with the whole in it. Add 1.5 centimetres of seam allowance. Sew the pieces together. I’ve used elastic fabric and the serger. Could I use an old sweater? Oh yes, I think so.
I treated myself with a few balls of sock yarn. In fact the only thing I can think of doing today is knitting socks (a pair of orange ones is still on the needles) and staying in bed. I’m only half alive. And this fog tightly glued to the house it seems, is driving me crazy.
Das ist ja eine richtige Sonnenmütze 🙂
Liebe Grüße,
Kerstin
What a fabulous hat. And a great mandala too. I look forward to these, you are so inventive 🙂
Thank you. I’m going to make another one it the cold stays any longer. 🙂

What a lovely mandala. That hat would be smashing if made from a sweater – how about Fair Isle?
I hope the fog lifts soon. Here it’s just cold, cold, cold. But we’re used to it by now so it doesn’t bother us very much. 🙂
I’m trying to find a suitable sweater. Will show it here when done. 😊
I hope the fog lifts soon and you get to feeling better. The sock yarn is definately You.
