Stiefel für den Samichlaus – Santa’s Boots

We went to Berlin the first day of our fall vacation, which was wonderful. Berlin is a completely different world. It’s a beautiful city with a heavy history that you can experience at every corner. Lots to think about. But now it’s lovely to be at home having time for this and that. 

Es war schön gleich zu Beginn der Herbstferien für ein paar Tage in eine komplet andere Welt, Berlin, einzutauchen. Aber es ist gut, wieder zu Hause zu sein und Zeit für dies und das zu haben.

I needed a few pompoms, and I needed them quickly. You might have seen this method, but I think it’s a great way to make small pompoms. No words needed, don’t you think?

Ich brauchte ein paar Pompoms, und ich brauchte sie schnell. Diese Methode ist auf Pinterest vorgestellt. Keine Worte nötig, nicht wahr?

My friend had the idea of making Santa’s boots (she always has lots of ideas for me to make) the other day. Although Samichlaustag is on December 6, I was hooked instantly, had a very short lunch, climbed up into the attic and looked for fabric. I wanted to make four different boots that matched nontheless. I had the boots finished after dinner, only the pompoms were missing. Unfortunately, it was time to call it a day. There is always tomorrow. 

Eine Freundin hatte die Idee, Samichlausstiefel für unseren Verkauf am 3. November (Tischmesse Bischofszell) zu nähen. Sofort war ich angefressen, ass nur schnell ein Birchermüesli zum Zmittag, kletterte in den Estrich und suchte den Stoff zusammen. Ich wollte vier verschiedene Stiefel nähen, die trotzdem zusammenpassen. Nach dem Nachtessen waren die Stiefel bis auf die Pompoms fertig, aber leider war es schon zu spät, um weiter tätig zu sein. Glücklicherweise gibt es (immer) einen nächsten Tag.

Und klar, ich weiss, Samichlaus ist erst am 6. Dezember, aber schliesslich will man ja keinen Stress haben mit den Chlaussäckli. Und ja, ich weiss, die Stiefel kommen aus Übersee, aber ich finde sie halt trotzdem lustig. Mandarinli, Nüsse und Schöggeli passen ja auch da rein.
