Mon Dieu! – Je te dis! – Halleluja!

Am Morgen war es auf dem Balkon hinterm Haus angenehm. Ein leiser Wind ging, der sich unterm T-shirt anstauende Wärme sofort abtransportier hat und die Wäsche bei Nachbars vis à vis flattern liess. Normalerweise tummeln sich auf den Drähten Eichhörnchen, aber vermutlich haben sie gemerkt, dass ich mit dem Photoapparat dastehe.

I sat on the deck this morning enjoying a pleasant wind, which blew the heat under the t-shirt away and let neighbour‘ laundry dance. Usually, there are squirrels on the wires, but not today because I stood there with my carera ready to get a picture. 

Später kam die Sonne, so dass ich auf die Vorderseite umgezogen bin. Auch hier ein leises Lüftchen. Mittlerweile wurde dieses von der Hitze erstickt und ich habe mich in die Dunkelheit meines Zimmers zurück gezogen.

Later the sun came, and I moved to the porch on the front of the house. There was also a nice wind. Eventually, I had to give up as the heat had killed the wind. I’m sitting in the dark of my room now. 

We all are melting. Maryse, my homestay mom, has a wet cloth around her neck and says every now and than: „Oh my God! Oh mon Dieu, it’s very hot! I’m telling you!“ I’m not supposed to comment on her lamentation as she is listening to a sermon on her i-pod. „Halleluya!“

Jetzt schmelzen wir alle vor uns hin. Maryse, die Homstay Mom, hat sich einen kalten Waschlappen um die Schulter geklatscht und sagt alle fünf Minuten „Mon Dieu, ça fait tellement chaud! Je te dis!“ Sie erwartet nicht, dass man in ihr Lamento einstimmt, denn sie hört auf dem i-pod eine Predigt. „Halleluja! Amen!“

Ich habe den jour de travail mit Stricken verbracht und bin mit meinem Alix Schal ganz schön weit gekommen. Nach fast sechs Musterwiederholungen habe ich jetzt den zweiten Knäuel angefangen. Maryse meint, dass ich diese Woche  noch fertig werde. Halleluja!

I’ve spent the day (jour de travail) knitting my Alix‘ prayer shawl. I’ve finished the first ball after six repetions of the pattern. Half of the shawl. Maryse thinks that I’m going to finish the shal this week. Halleluja!
