Mend And Make New – Wie neu

I love mending and making new. There is so much satisfaction in it. Like this bag which I bought in Newport, Rhode Island, two years ago. I’ve never found the lining ideal, the zippers, the little bag, the colour and texture of the fabric. However, the bag has a nice size as there is enough space for the purse, handkerchiefs, lip gloss, a book, a bottle of water and even a small knitting project: all you need for a stroll through town or a trip by train or plane. 

I cut out the lining this morning and replaced it with a lovely cotton fabric. The bag is perfect now and coming with my to Australia. 

Ich trenne mich ungern von Dingen. Deshalb liebe ich es zu flicken, was mir grosse Befriedigung schenkt. Zum Beispiel diese Tasche, die ich vor zwei Jahren in Newport, Rhode Island gekauft habe. Das Futter hat mir zwar nie gefallen, die Innentasche, die Reissverschlüsse, der Stoff. Aber die Tasche hat eine ideale Grösse. Für Lippenpommade, Taschentücher, Portemonnaie, eine Wasserflasche, ein Buch und sogar ein kleines Strickzeug ist genügend Platz: Alles was es für einen Stadtbummel, eine Bahn- oder Flugreise braucht.

Heute Morgen habe ich das Futter herausgeschnitten und es durch einen hübschen Baumwollstoff ersetzt. Die Tasche ist jetzt perfekt und kommt mit mir nach Australien.
