Rund, quadratisch, franslig – Circles, Squares, Fringes

Den heutigen Tag habe ich ganz früh mit einem Kaffee gestartet. Bin heute ein bisschen lädiert, weil ich gestern fast erschlagen wurde. Das Seil am Dachbodendeckel ist gerissen und päng! war fand ich mich zwischen Deckel und Boden schief auf der Treppe eingeklemmt. So kann es gehen, wenn man aufräumt. Nach dem Kaffee ging ich dann mit dem gefüllten Auto in die KVA, was ich ja eigentlich gestern schon wollte. Nur war da Annahmesperre, weil es am falschen Ort brannte. Den Grümpel im Auto lud ich nicht mehr aus, deckte ihn nur zu und fuhr in ein bisschen spazieren, sozusagen. Heute klappte es dann und ich fühle mich jetzt im wahrsten Sinn des Wortes erleichtert. Nacken, Ellbogen und Rippen erholen sich hoffentlich bald.

I had my first cup of coffee very early this morning because I didn’t sleep that well. Yesterday I was beaten up. There is a very heavy cover over the stairs to the attic, which fell down on me because the rod broke. Poor me. I’d better read a book then emptying the attic. After I had coffee I brought the stuff and garbage to the KVA, which I wanted to do yesterday but couldn’t as there was a fire at the wrong place. I was successful today and feel much lighter after dumping so many kilos there. Neck, shoulder and rips will get better soon hopefully. 

Das Thema ist „Estrich aus- und aufräumen“, deshalb bin ich jetzt froh, dass nach dem Zuschneiden der 25 Rondellen für mein aktuelles Nähprojekt alle Jeansreste in die dafür vorgesehene blaue Plastikkiste passen.

I’m in the mood of getting rid of things, making room. There is the time of letting go. Therefore I am really happy that the scraps of old jeans fit into one box after I have cut the pieces for my next sewing project. 

Dann war Zeit für eine zweite Tasse Kaffee, mir dem Hinweis auf „Kleine Kaffeepause“ von soulsister. Vielleicht haben die Kaffeetanten unter euch ja auch Lust mitzumachen. Mir wird so richtig bewusst, wie schön kleine Kaffeepausen sind und wie oft ich sie mir gönne. 🙂 Kaffee trinken und Quadrate schneiden geht ganz gut am Küchentisch. Die Quadrate passen in die Kreise. Einmal schneide ich sie aus Vlies oder sonst was Kuschligem für die Füllung, einmal aus Stoff zu.

After that it was time for a second cup of coffee and cutting the squares from filling material and top fabric on the kitchen table. The squares fit into the circles. I hope to win a nice prize at soulsister’s „Kleine Kaffeepause“. 

 

 

Dann lege ich Rondelle und zwei Quadrate aufeinander, schlage die Ränder um, stecke sie fest. Ich mache 25 Quadrate und steppe die Schnittkanten mit der Nähmaschine ab (oder soll ich Zickzack wählen?), damit sie nach dem Waschen schön franslig werden. Zuvor werde ich die Quadrate allerdings noch von Hand zu einer kleinen Patchworkdecke zusammennähen. Hoffentlich ist das Werk Ende Woche fertig.

Then I make a sandwich with the two squares and the circle and pin the round-shaped edges that I get a square. I sew along the edges that should look fringy after washing. The 25 squares will be sewed together by hand. The goal is to have a finished little patchwork blanket or table cloth by the end of the week. 

 

Heute und morgen werde ich also schneiden und nähen.
